Description
What role do myths play today? Which mythological narratives shape our perception? Is AI the modern oracle? The performance is an audiovisual ritual re-enactment of the ancient oracle of Delphi - translated into the aesthetics of rave and digital art.
The Oracle of Delphi stabilized the Greek community through its ambiguous prophecies. Today, AI also generates predictions based on data and algorithms. With the help of generative AI tools, such as stream diffusion, it becomes a modern Pythia that generates prophecies in an audiovisual performance. But is it still an oracle or is it just a calculation?
In “Homo Ludens”, Johan Huizinga describes play as a central element of culture. Rituals function according to similar principles: They create their own space - the “magic circle” - in which different rules apply than in everyday reality. New meanings, collective experiences and transformations are created within this protected framework.
The rave can be understood as such a magic circle: a playful crossing of boundaries between order and chaos, between the individual and the community. In this ecstatic state, collective experiences arise that enable viewers to have a transcendent experience. The performance interweaves this magical space with the digital prophecy of AI and questions how knowledge, belief and interpretation are reshaping themselves with the help of play in the age of artificial territories.
